Music I 

Grade Level: 6, 7, 8
Prerequisite: None
Length: One semester
Description: This multifaceted class offers something for all students, regardless of musical experience. Beginning students will learn introductory piano keyboard skills while students with prior piano experience will have the opportunity to begin at their current level and progress to the next. In addition to piano, students will study both solo and ensemble voice in various genres. Students will develop their musical knowledge as they complete multimedia projects and explore digital music by using iPads as both instruments and Digital Audio Workstations (DAW). This course provides a solid foundation for the three courses required to complete the Career Technical Education (CTE) Performing Arts Pathway certificate at Morro Bay High.

Description: This STEAM course may include modules such as destination imagination, presentation, argumentation, marketing and sales, robotics, fashion marketing, balsa gliders, and stitchery/textiles.

Description: This STEAM course may include advanced engineering modules such as destination imagination, presentation, argumentation, marketing and sales, robotics, fashion marketing, balsa gliders, and stitchery/textiles, which will involve team selection and project creation.

Science Tech I

Description: This STEAM course may include modules such as electronic circuits, engineering structures, propulsion systems, videography, robotics, animatronics, pushcart/dog sled/soundboards, and animation.

Science Tech II

Description: This STEAM course may include advanced science and technology modules such as electronic circuits, engineering structures, propulsion systems, videography, robotics, animatronics, pushcart/dog sled/soundboards, and animation, which will involve team selection and project creation.

Description: This STEAM course may include modules such as crafting, drawing and painting, color and design theory, engineering structures, graphic design, digital photography, videography, robotics, fashion design, food science, and recycled art.

Beginning Journalism/Newspaper

Prerequisite: “C” grade or better in previous English class
Length: Two semesters
Description: Beginning Journalism/Newspaper is a course designed to teach students the techniques and skills necessary to produce a reputable, professional, trustworthy news source. Students will become familiar with such journalistic skills as interviewing, news reporting, editorial writing, editing, and newspaper layout.
